Young Street Blackwood
Let’s Create a Blackwood village Christmas for all to enjoy
We love our pageant, red bows, market and fair but what about reviving the Blackwood Christmas Tree Festival?
From 1960-1980 Blackwood held a Christmas Tree Festival where creative individuals and groups displayed real and artificial trees stunningly and at times absurdly decorated.
BAG, supported and encouraged by Lions, Rotary, Memorial Hall members and others are aiming to revive the Festival at the Blackwood Community Centre on the first weekend in December.
The Blackwood Business Network has generously agreed to erect the giant tree in front of the Uniting Church at the roundabout and Totally Locally and BBN will encourage and assist businesses to create enticing shop window displays.
Carol singers, buskers, opportunity to talk to Santa, a gift giving tree, children’s Christmas craft activities, street tree lights, are just some of the things being discussed.
Your interest in creating and displaying a tree is sought by Frid 12 August. We need to know by then if there is enough community interest in a Christmas Tree Festival. DON’T BE SHY! Encourage others to join in the fun!!
